Ubuntu 8.04 Release Party - A success
2008-04-27 18:42
Yesterday, Saturday the 26th April, the Danish LoCo-team celebrated the release of Ubuntu. Around 50 people visited the event, and the talks performed by Mads Chr. Olesen and Carsten Agger were great. And some people also said that about my talk on the new features in Hardy Heron, even though I only used about 4 hours on preparing my presentation, due to some problems in my family.
Mads talked about a software he is developing, called MultiADM. MultiADM is a software for managing and updating Debian-based systems, currently with support for the content management system Typo3, and he is also planning to make support for other systems. The software is especially useful when managing many servers. The software checks for updates on the system and informs the user about it. The user can then decide whether the update should be installed or not.
Carsten talked about free software; the benefits of free software, how free software is made, how a company can make money on free software etc. It was a great and informative talk, though a little too long (around one hour).
Søren S. Nielsen took some really great pictures that can be found here
Special thanks to:
MadsRH from UbuntuDanmark for making this poster for the event.
Prosa for letting us borrow their basement for the event, and for sponsoring the food.
Øjlug for being the co-organizer.
And of course everyone on the Ubuntu-DK-mailinglist/irc-channel and everyone on from the forum at UbuntuDanmark
